The Dane County Sheriff's Office is releasing details about five people killed in a crash in the city of Verona

CITY OF VERON, Wis. (WMTV) – Dane County officials released new information Monday about the five people killed in a crash in the city of Verona on Friday.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office said there were five passengers in the 2016 Tesla Model S. They have been described as:

  • 55-year-old man from Belleville
  • 55 year old Crandon woman
  • 54-year-old Crandon man
  • 48-year-old woman from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
  • 48-year-old man from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

The Dane County Sheriff's Office said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. The victims were not named.

Sheriff Kalvin Barrett described the past few days as a devastating weekend on the roads of Dane County. Law enforcement also responded to a fatal crash near Windsor, while Sun Prairie police reported a fatal crash near N. Bird Street and Vandenburg Street.

“The sheriff’s office alone responded to two accidents that resulted in the death of seven people,” Barrett said. “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims as they mourn the untimely loss of their loved ones. Please give your full attention to driving to reduce accidents and make our roads safer.”

The Dane County Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the City of Verona accident that occurred on the Range Trail. Officials reported the vehicle was traveling north when it left the road, struck a tree and burst into flames.
