The legendary comedian who went viral for calling Trump the C-word has died aged 63

A comedian known for her harsh assessments of former President Donald Trump has died aged 63.

Janey Godley died on November 2, 2024 after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer, Deadline reported.

The Scottish comedian first gained international fame when she went viral in 2016 for holding a sign that read “Trump is a**t.” In particular, she held this sign in front of Trump's Scottish golf course, the Turnberry Golf Resort.

She sent the internet into a frenzy again after posting a picture on social media of herself lifting a “Trump is still a**” shirt in her bed while intubated in October.

“Godley was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2021 and shared in September of that year that her 'chemotherapy' options had run out,” said Deadline.

According to the BBC, she had previously beaten cancer, but in December 2022 it reared its ugly head again.

“A tough upbringing in the East End of Glasgow was the common thread that ran through her humour. Often angry, she [specialized] in wringing laughs from the most unlikely material,” the BBC wrote of Godley. “Her actions reflected the city that shaped her: working class, foul-mouthed, at the same time angry and sentimental. She delivered her comical broadsides at high speed and made her points like a street fighter.”

Her work during the Covid-19 pandemic exploded online when she parodied then-First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's press conferences.

She is survived by her husband Sean Storrie and her daughter Ashley Storrie.
