Bandmates of the sole survivor of the Fort Worth crash organize a benefit concert

A North Texas man injured in a wrong-way crash in Fort Worth late last month is doing better but remains hospitalized.

Evan Ranallo lost his fiancée in the accident that also killed a family of four. His friends talked about his healing process.

Aaron Allen is Ranallo's bandmate and good friend.

“We immediately talked about what we could do to help them, and the benefits came through,” he said.

Ranallo is a guitarist who plays with five different local bands. He remains in hospital with serious injuries sustained in an accident a week ago that killed his fiancée Chelsea Cook.

According to Fort Worth police, a vehicle carrying a family of four, two parents and two children, was traveling the wrong way on Northeast Loop 820 when they collided head-on with the newly engaged couple.

“The lack of answers has been hard,” Allen said. “We’re just trying to do everything we can right now. You can think about it now or try to make things better. And we’re trying to make things better.”

The musical community is planning a fundraiser to support Ranallo in his physical and emotional recovery.

“This affects all of us, everyone associated with Evan in these bands,” Allen said. “We are all thinking in different ways and what we can do for the charity which is taking place on December 14th.”

A musical fundraiser is planned for Dec. 14 at O'Shea's Bar and Grill in Hurst.

“The rush is unbelievable at the moment. There are people putting things up for auction and sending us things,” Allen said. “There are the people we see all the time who also help, but there are also people we have never met before. For example: 'I don't know Evan, but I want to help. I did it.' “I don't know Chelsea, but I want to help. “We thought this is something we can do to cover bills and cover whatever we can.”
