Ja Morant's two crazy layups in the Grizzlies nets are going viral

Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant has slowly changed his style of play over the six games of the 2024-25 season, averaging 20.0 points and 9.8 assists in his first six appearances. Morant has focused on developing his elite playing skills and has moved to fourth in the NBA in assists per game.

Morant was no longer as sharp and attacked anyone who got in his way, but his revised style was effective. Still, Morant doesn't shy away from a special opportunity when he sees one.

Instead of trying to score a poster dunk over Nets center Nic Claxton in Monday's game in Brooklyn, Morant shined with an incredible 360-degree layup.

Not only did Morant make a complete turn in the air, he also switched the ball from his right hand to his left hand to provide a clean look at the opponent.

Memphis trails the Nets by a narrow margin, trailing 50-49 at halftime, but Morant's highlight layup went viral on social media and was shared by the NBA and several major accounts.

Via Hoop Central: “YES MF MORANT 360 LAYUP.”

HoopsHype's Michael Scotto didn't hesitate to call Morant's layup one of the best NBA plays you'll see this season.

On Michael Scotto: “Ja Morant had a 360-degree layup that will be one of the best plays of the NBA season”

As unbelievable as it may sound, Morant actually pulled off this move twice in Monday's game against the Nets. Morant spun around Nets forward Cam Johnson in the third quarter in a move that was perhaps even more incredible than the first time.

In addition to making a 360-degree layup, Morant faked a poster dunk before switching to a mid-air spin.

The NBA had to react to Morant's incredible highlight and was even more shocked this time than the first time.

Via NBA: “360 FAKE DUNK & HAND SWITCH.
TONIGHT FOR THE SECOND TIME.
JA MORANT IS PURE THEATER.”
