Travis Kelce comments on Jason Kelce's phone incident at Penn State

Travis Kelce is firmly on his brother Jason Kelce's side as he continues to express regret over his reaction during a confrontation with a fan last week.

On the Nov. 6 episode of their “New Heights” podcast, the brothers discussed Jason Kelce's heated exchange with a college football fan outside Penn State University's Beaver Stadium four days ago.

The incident, captured on cell phone camera video, shows Jason Kelce responding to a fan who had insulted his brother's relationship with Taylor Swift with a homophobic slur by grabbing the fan's phone and slamming it on the floor . In one angle, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center appears to repeat the insult.

“I know you wanted to vent some air, so go ahead,” Travis Kelce said at the start of the episode, later adding, “I agree with you, man.”

Jason Kelce then addressed the incident and expressed regret over his reaction.

“I am not happy with the situation. My reaction gave him insight and also made the situation more known,” explained Jason Kelce. “That’s what I regret, okay? It doesn't deserve any attention. It's really stupid, and if I just move on, it's f—ing – it's a nothing burger. Nobody sees it. Now it’s out there and it’s just fueling more hate.”

Jason Kelce also expressed his disappointment with the language he used.

“The thing I regret most is saying that word, to be honest. And the word he used – it's just fucking ridiculous, it takes it to another level. It’s right off the wall and goes over the border,” he said.

“In the heat of the moment, I thought in my head, 'Hey, what can I say back to him?' “I’m going to throw that right back in his face,” he said to his brother.

“I know now that I shouldn't have done that because now there's a video of me saying that word, him saying that word, and it's not good for anyone,” he added. “I think what I really regret is that there is now a video that is very hateful that is now online and has been seen by millions of people, and I share the blame for it being continued and out there is.”

“I know it’s bothering you, bro,” Travis Kelce replied. “That sucks. Of course you shouldn’t feel the control so much.”

“The real situation is some damn clown coming up to you and talking about your family,” Travis Kelce added. “And you reacted as if you were defending your family, and you may have used some words that you regret using, and that's a situation that you just have to learn from and accept. And I think that you owning it and talking about it shows how sincere you are to a lot of people in this world.”

Travis Kelce addressed his brother's comments from the “Monday Night Football” pregame show earlier this week when Jason Kelce said, “In a heated moment, I decided to answer hate with hate and I just don't believe that.” that is a productive thing.”

Travis Kelce referenced his brother's apology, saying, “Especially what you said Monday night. … You don’t choose hate. That’s just not who you are.”
