Google accidentally released a preview of its Jarvis AI that can take over computers

Jarvis is real. Google's new AI prototype accidentally made its way to the public via the Chrome Web Store. This isn't just an AI helper that tells you the weather or reminds you of doctor's appointments. reported that the store page describes the Jarvis prototype as “a helpful companion that surfs the Internet for you via web browsers” to complete common tasks such as grocery shopping, booking flights, and researching topics

In other words, Google's new AI has the ability to take control of a computer to complete these simple tasks without manual human input. The prototype that appeared in Google's extension store was not fully functional. A reporter tried to use Jarvis, but access permissions prevented the app from performing any functions.

Google deleted Jarvis's store page the afternoon before publication. Jarvis will face competition from companies like Anthropic, which began public beta last month. Anthropic's AI assistant can perform more than just basic functions through a web browser. Claude can take over a computer to enter text, activate keys, and move the cursor.
