The cause of the crash remains under investigation, the sheriff's office said.

TOWN OF ALGOMA – One person has died and another person has suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision at State 21 and Leonard Point Road Wednesday morning.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that officers and personnel from the city of Algoma and Oshkosh fire departments responded to the accident shortly before 6 a.m. Nov. 6.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld until family is notified, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the second vehicle was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Members of the Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Team, members of the drone unit and the Winnebago County Medical Examiner's Office are all assisting in the investigation.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff's office said the road was still closed for an investigation and cleanup. However, State 21 reopened around 10:30 a.m., resulting in a total closure of about four and a half hours.
