A Metro Detroit student's Election Day artwork is going viral and winning over voters

Meet Jane Hynous, a student at Big point Brownell Middle School, whose artwork is the latest must-see for voters.

Her father, Emmett Hynous, is as surprised as anyone.

“A thousand dollars,” Emmett said, proud of his daughter for her achievements and humble nature. “To be honest, I’m kind of speechless.”

Immediately after Election Day, offers for Jane's “I Voted” werewolf stickers began popping up, with prices ranging from a few dollars to hundreds to even $1,000.

“Now that I've seen the bigger impact, it's pretty crazy,” Jane admits, amazed at the wide appeal.

“It’s great to see these kids being recognized,” Emmett said. “It engages them [voting] Process that they can't necessarily participate in because they're too young, but that's the point; everything is in good spirits.”

Jane created her winning design during a social studies class.

The middle schooler remembers being less than thrilled with the day's activity, the Nicolas Cage film “National Treasure,” so she started drawing her sticker. It only took 30 minutes.

Jane's stickers and others have become a sensation and inspired creativity on social media.

“I saw someone make a Halloween costume out of it,” Emmett said. “It’s become a fun movement with positive energy.”

Meanwhile, back at Brownell Middle School, Jane has the humble hope that her success will encourage her classmates to pursue their own creative ideas.

The school plans to frame and hang her decal design as a reminder of her accomplishments.
