Son accused of trying to set father on fire

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A Stuart man is in custody on attempted murder charges after an argument with his father Wednesday afternoon.

The Patrick County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Clark House Farm Road for a disturbance at 1:21 p.m.

According to reports, 28-year-old Eric Walker got into an argument with his father that escalated.

According to officers, Walker doused his father with lighter fluid and attempted to set it on fire.

The father managed to escape and run to a neighbor's house, but Walker chased him and broke a window as he tried to get to his father, officials said.

Walker was charged with attempted murder, criminal damage and public intoxication.

He is being held in the Patrick County Jail without bail.
