Man arrested in Grand Forks after domestic incident leads to structure fire – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS – A man was arrested Wednesday evening after a suspected domestic disturbance turned into a structure fire.

According to a Grand Forks Police Department report, officers were called to the 600 block of Fourth Avenue South for a domestic disturbance just before 10:30 p.m.

The report states, “This situation quickly escalated to an open residential fire and the Grand Forks Fire Department was also dispatched along with Altru Health Systems.”

The suspect was identified as James Laducer, 36, according to police.

He injured the victim and then “ignited various items in the residence, creating open flames,” the report said. There were two children in the residence at the time.

He fled the scene and was later found by police. At that point, according to police, another physical altercation occurred.

Laducer was arrested on three counts of endangering fire, hindering apprehension and aggravated domestic violence and was subsequently transported to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

The Grand Forks Fire Department extinguished the flames.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the Staff headline. Often the notation “stab” is used when rewriting basic short messages that come from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. Sometimes this byline is used when a news story has multiple authors or when the story is created by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, this will be noted in the story.
