Woman stabbed in Stow house; Suspect in custody

STOW, Ohio – A 32-year-old woman was found dead in a home late Wednesday after police say they received a call from a man who said he had stabbed a family member.

John Lorkowski, 46, of Stow, was arrested without incident after officers arrived at the home in the 4000 block of Baird Road just after 10:30 p.m., police said. According to police, Lorkowski is being held in the Summit County Jail on a murder charge.

A police news release said dispatchers received two 911 calls reporting the stabbing at 10:31 p.m. One of the callers told dispatchers he had stabbed a family member during an “altercation,” police said.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found dead in the home with “numerous” stab wounds. The police did not provide any information about the relationship between the victim and the suspect. Lorkowski was taken to Akron General Hospital in Stow for treatment of cuts to his hand before being taken to jail.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office are assisting in the investigation, police said.
