Flagstaff, AZ – Continued snow showers are expected in Flagstaff and surrounding areas of eastern Arizona today and Thursday. With temperatures hovering around freezing in the early morning hours, residents are advised to prepare for slippery roads, particularly on Interstate 40. Heavy snowfall could reduce visibility and cause travel delays, so for Drivers should be careful.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Flagstaff can expect high temperatures of around 37°F today, with snowfall tapering off by Thursday evening. Temperatures are expected to gradually increase, reaching the mid-50s by Friday and continuing to climb into the upper 50s by Sunday. Today's snow conditions bring a slight chance of severe weather conditions into Thursday morning, with wind gusts from the northeast reaching up to 21 miles per hour. This can further reduce visibility, especially during the morning commute.

Thursday's weather starts out similarly, with highs just below 40°F, but skies clear by evening. It is expected to be sunny by Friday and temperatures are expected to reach highs of around 10°C, giving residents relief after the cold snap. The warming trend will continue into the weekend, with temperatures near 15°C on Saturday and sunny skies through Sunday. However, the low temperatures remain cool, dropping to over 20 °C at night.

NWS urges residents to check local road conditions, particularly on mountainous routes that are prone to icy patches. Travelers on I-40 and surrounding highways should exercise caution as melting snow may refreeze overnight, creating dangerous conditions. Warmer, drier conditions are expected to continue into early next week, ushering in a brief respite from the snowy start of November.
