A different judge will preside over the defendant's shooting trial…

The judge in the trial of Colt Gray, the teenager accused of killing four people at Apalachee High School, has ordered his dismissal from the case, citing “the interest of the efficient administration of justice.”

Judge Currie M. Mingledorff II is retiring from his position and since his successor is currently an assistant district attorney for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit, he has taken the step of recusing himself from the case.

Fox 5 News in Atlanta reports that the case has been assigned to Judge Sarah Griffie.

Suspect Colt Gray faces a total of 55 charges in the murder of four people and the wounding of nine others who were shot at Apalachee High School on the morning of September 4, 2024. Separate charges are being filed against Gray's father, Colin Gray, for allegedly allowing Colt Gray to gain access to the weapons used in the shootings.
