New Bedford man with 84 prior convictions arrested for shooting

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – A New Bedford man has been arrested in connection with an Oct. 27 shooting outside a city bar, according to New Bedford police.

Jordan Caetano, 43, was arrested and charged Operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, attempted assault and battery, and possession of a large capacity firearm and utility device, among other charges.

The incident occurred outside the Redwood Saloon on Cove Road, where police responded to reports of shots fired.

Officers recovered several bullet casings at the scene.

A week later, investigators conducted a search of Caetano's home and found a backpack that allegedly contained a large-capacity handgun, a high-capacity feeding device and 255 rounds of ammunition. Caetano was taken into custody.

Caetano faces 84 adult charges, was recently sentenced to four to six years in state prison for armed robbery and has been arrested in a domestic violence incident since his release.

He was released with a suspended sentence.
