Police said one was arrested and one was hospitalized following the shooting in Akron

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Akron police said one man was arrested and another was in the hospital following a shooting Wednesday night.

Officers said they were called to investigate a shooting in the area of ​​West Waterloo Road and Nesmith Lake Boulevard around 10 p.m.

According to police, the suspect remained on site and was immediately arrested.

Officials said Ryan Schafer, 31, is charged with aggravated assault.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, police said.

He underwent surgery there and remains in serious condition.

Police did not provide any information about what led to the shooting.

Officials said Schafer is being held at the Summit County Jail.

The shooting is still under investigation.
