Man arrested for allegedly stabbing teenage girl to death at Hyannis Dollar Tree – Boston News, Weather, Sports

HANNIS, MASS. (WHDH) – A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday for stabbing a teenager who was standing next to her mother at a Cape Cod store, police said.

According to Barnstable police, officers responded to the Dollar Tree at 1070 Route 132 in Hyannis around 12:38 p.m. and found a girl with stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police arrested Nikolas Rescigno, of Hyannis, at the scene. Witnesses told police that Rescigno approached the girl from behind and stabbed her in the lower back while she stood next to her mother in the store's foyer.

Rescigno then allegedly stared at the girl and eventually dropped the knife after a witness told him to, police said. According to police, the girl did not previously know Rescigno.

He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault. There is also an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court in another case. This incident involved a knife attack and occurred at the Cape Cod Mall in May 2023, police said.

Rescigno's bond was set at $5,000 and he was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Barnstable District Court.
