837 flights were delayed and nine were canceled due to the snow

At least 846 flights were delayed or canceled at Denver International Airport on Thursday as snow fell across the Denver metropolitan area and the eastern plains of Colorado.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the average delay time for arriving flights was less than 15 minutes. A traffic management program is in effect, and FAA officials said it could delay some arriving flights and the schedules of departing flights could be affected.

According to Flight Aware, DIA had 837 delayed flights and nine cancellations as of 5:45 p.m. United Airlines reported the most delays with 268, followed by SkyWest with 229 and Southwest with 203.

That was down from Wednesday, when Flight Aware data showed 1,092 delays and 31 cancellations

“De-icing continues,” said DIA spokesman Michael Konopasek. “One runway is closed for treatment and cleaning.”
