Princess Charlotte burst into tears as Prince William followed Prince Harry's bold move

Princess Charlotte burst into tears in response to Prince William growing a beard.

The Prince of Wales revealed his daughter's reaction to his facial hair during a candid interview in South Africa.

Prince William said: “Well, Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first time I had tears, so I have to shave them off. And then I let them grow back.”

“I thought, wait a minute and I convinced her everything was going to be okay.”

The Prince of Wales added: “I couldn't be less relaxed this year so it's very interesting for you all to see.”

“But it’s more about just keeping going and moving forward.”

“I enjoy the work and I enjoy managing myself and making sure I have time for my family.”

Prince Harry has had a beard for many years and it has been the subject of a dispute between the Duke of Sussex and Prince William.

Speaking to ITV ahead of the release of his memoir Spare, Prince Harry explained how he asked Queen Elizabeth II for permission to keep his beard on his wedding day in 2018.

The armed forces had strict rules about facial hair in uniform.

Harry claimed that while the Queen was receptive to the beard, Prince William was not.

The Duke of Sussex claimed William ordered him to cut it off after a week-long argument.

However, Harry kept his beard for his wedding day and rarely appeared clean-shaven in public in the following years.

Harry told Bradby he didn't think Meghan would have recognized him clean-shaven and that he would “feel very, very different without my beard.”

The Duke of Sussex added: “This is hard for people who have never grown a beard to understand, but hopefully the beard people out there will say, 'Yes, I get that, I can understand it'.”
