We celebrate natural beauty: Drew Barrymore, guests like Pamela Anderson, Valerie Bertinelli, Gillian Anderson and the studio audience go into the show without makeup

NW YORK, Oct. 22— The Drew Barrymore Show focuses on natural beauty as the actress, producer, author and talk show host takes off her makeup and gets started along with her guests and the entire studio audience natural.

Along with actresses Pamela Anderson, Valerie Bertinelli and Gillian Anderson, as well as local TV personality Gayle King and obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Kameelah Phillips, the women sit down for “a candid conversation about enjoying natural beauty as they age.”

In the episode, set to air today, Anderson Barrymore opens up about her decision to sport a more natural look and really take a step back from the makeup she used to hide behind. Barrymore called her “the pioneer of who we are.” “I’ll definitely do it here today” by peeling off the paint.

“I love it. It's amazing. Isn't it liberating? Doesn’t it feel free?” asks Anderson.

“I mean, I feel free. It took a while, I had my little journey with it…we are all our own worst critics.”

Anderson said she felt really comfortable with her choice during a recent Paris Fashion Week, a report reported Toofab.

“I decided to just go to a fashion show, I didn't have to compete with anyone. Like, why am I wasting three hours in a makeup chair wearing these beautiful Vivienne Westwood clothes?

“Then when people started coming up to me and talking about it, I thought, well, that's a great message to really put it behind me and figure out who I am again.”

She said she played characters, and a few years ago she realized she was starting to question who she really was.

“And that's when I went home to my garden and started planting things, going into nature and returning to the trees that had known me since I was born. I bought my grandmother's property and renovated it. I just started taking everything back and then started looking out without makeup.

“I don't want people to think of me as the Other, all these cartoon characters that I kind of created to protect, I think that's what I did it for.

“This is the best time in my life. “I feel so empowered and so free and so excited about life again,” said the 57-year-old actress.
