Columbia man charged with seven felonies after drug raid

A Columbia man has been charged with seven felonies after hundreds of doses of fentanyl were allegedly found on him.

Kyle Shepherd, 32, was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bail in the Boone County Jail. A court date has not been set.

The probable cause statement alleges that Shepherd was seen selling drugs multiple times and that he had an active arrest warrant in an unrelated case. After Shepherd left his apartment, police conducted a traffic stop. and found him with five fentanyl pills and $600, the statement said.

Police searched his home and found 45 grams – or about 450 doses – of fentanyl, a bag containing about 100 Xanax tablets, two bags of cocaine and three and a half pills of oxycodone, the statement said. Police also found $3,500 in cash and four guns, the statement said.

The statement said that “various women give him money as a source of income.” Shepherd had an arrest warrant for failure to appear. Court records show he pleaded guilty in 2020 to failing to pay child support for more than a year and was sentenced to probation. A probation violation was reported in 2021.

His bond in this case is $30,647.68. A hearing is scheduled for Friday, November 15, at 1:30 p.m.
