Man wanted for murder in Arlington, Texas, was arrested in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Shreveport Police helped arrest a man wanted for murder in Arlington, Texas.

According to Arlington police, a fatal shooting occurred on June 6 at an apartment complex on Cypress Club Drive. Marquis Holliman, 38, was killed.

During the investigation, 31-year-old Robert Kelly was identified as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for him for murder. U.S. Marshals Service officers found Kelly in Shreveport. Officers from the Shreveport Police Department assisted in Kelly's arrest on November 7th.

Kelly is being held in the Shreveport City Jail; he will soon be extradited to Texas.

According to investigators, on the night of the murder, Hollliman went to a neighboring apartment where people had gathered and began yelling at them. Witnesses reported that he got into an argument with a woman who was there and pushed her, and another man then confronted Holliman.

CRIME IN THE ARKLATEX

A short time later, according to the police, several shots were fired. Officers responded to the complex and found Holliman lying lifeless on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Initially, investigators said they had very few leads in the case. But eventually, Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County received several tips indicating that someone named “Mike Mike” was the shooter. Investigators were able to identify “Mike Mike” as Kelly.

Eventually, other witnesses came forward and were able to tell investigators that Kelly had been at the facility on the night of the murder. Specifically, one of the officers reportedly said he saw Kelly with a gun in his waistband shortly before the fatal shooting.

Investigators also determined that Kelly was a regular at the complex where the shooting occurred. When they searched the apartment, they reportedly found ammunition of the same make and model as the spent shell casings found at the scene. They also reportedly found the ammunition near several of Kelly's personal items.

Investigators tried to find Kelly to question him about the case, but discovered he suddenly left Arlington not long after the shooting.
