The sheriff provides new information about the Buffalo County death investigation

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. (WEAU) – Authorities are providing new information as part of the investigation into the death of a woman in Buffalo County.

According to the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office, officers went to a mobile home to serve an eviction notice.

The property owner had contacted officials to evict the two tenants living there. When officers got there, one person opened the door and later discovered the other person was dead.

Authorities don't know a cause of death, but believe the woman has been dead for about six weeks.

A man has been arrested and the sheriff expects charges will be filed tomorrow.

A 57-year-old woman was found dead in a home on Court Lane in Fountain City on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, according to an initial press release from the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office regarding the incident.

A Buffalo County Sheriff's Office deputy was speaking with a resident when the deputy learned there was a dead woman inside.

The woman's death is under investigation.

Authorities are conducting an autopsy.
