According to Moskowitz, Lapinski, a convicted felon, was in possession of a rifle, a silencer and body armor.

The madman was also in possession of a manifesto containing “anti-Semitic rhetoric” and the congressman's name on a “target list,” the lawmaker said.

In the statement, Moskowitz pointed to seemingly ongoing threats against politicians.

“As someone who was appointed to the Donald Trump Attempted Assassination Task Force, I understand the failures and the importance of ensuring the protection of our current and future Commander in Chief and Vice President,” Moskowitz wrote on X.

“At the same time, I am very concerned about the safety of members of Congress and the significant lack thereof when we are in the district,” he added.

On Friday it was revealed that Iran tried to organize an assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump.

In a sensational criminal complaint, the government said Farhad Shakeri, 51, was hired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to “surveil and ultimately assassinate” Trump.
