Israel delays retaliatory strike against Iran after American intelligence revelations

Israel was forced to postpone a possible retaliatory attack on Iran after details of the planning were leaked from the Pentagon, News.Az reports, citing the British newspaper Times.

According to the report, citing an intelligence source with knowledge of Israel's deliberations, Israel fears that the details provided could help Iran predict specific attack patterns, although no potential targets were named in the leak.

The Times says Israel has developed an alternative plan but needs to put it to the test before moving forward.

“The leak of the American documents delayed the attack as certain strategies and components had to be changed,” the source said. “There will be retribution, but it took longer than it should have.”

The documents, classified as top secret, first appeared online on the messaging app Telegram on Friday and quickly spread through Telegram channels popular with Iranians.

The FBI is investigating the leak.

The Islamic Republic is preparing for Israeli retaliation after firing 200 ballistic missiles on October 1 in its latest direct attack on Israel, sending most of Israel into bomb shelters, killing a Palestinian in the West Bank and causing minor damage in residential areas and on military bases.

Iran said the rocket attack was in response to attacks in Lebanon that killed the top leadership of the Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah and a July explosion in Tehran that killed Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh became.
