Expect big weather changes across LI this weekend

The Fire Weather Warning has been extended for Saturday with windy and dry conditions on Long Island. Saturday will be nice and sunny, but much colder with highs in the 50s.

A freeze warning is in effect for Suffolk County from Saturday night through Sunday morning, with low temperatures near freezing.


Sunday will start dry with increasing clouds and some rain will occur overnight. The rain ends Monday morning with nice weather for Veterans Day.

Temperatures will be much more seasonable next week and we could see more showers later in the week.


OVERNIGHT: Mostly clear, windy and colder with lows around 39 degrees. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph.

SATURDAY: Fire weather warning. Mostly sunny, windy and colder, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Suffolk County will experience frost overnight, with lows around 34 degrees. Clear skies and light north wind.

SUNDAY: Morning sunshine followed by clouds late afternoon with a chance of showers into Sunday night. Highs near 60. Lows near 53.


MONDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, mainly in the morning. It will be mostly sunny in the afternoon. Mild with highs around 68. Lows around 47.


TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, fair and cooler with highs around 56°C and lows around 43°C.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and seasonal with highs around 56. Lows around 43.
