Doltons Henyard will attempt to arrest political opponents as she faces eviction

Tiffany Henyard, the scandal-plagued Democratic mayor of Dolton, Illinois, has indicated she will seek to arrest political opponents, many of whom have raised concerns about her wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars.

The embattled mayor, who is also facing eviction from her rented home, has made national headlines for allegedly misusing taxpayer money. Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot previously examined her extravagant spending habits.

“I will seek the arrest of the individuals involved,” Henyard said in a rambling 90-minute video she posted to Facebook on Tuesday.

“I will file a complaint. That's a lot. And with that, I just want to tell you a little bit, because all that pointing the finger at Tiffany – or lying to me – is behind me. Now it's time for me to say what I say, the truth speaks.

Henyard, who introduces herself as a “super mayor” in the video, did not say what crimes her opponents may have committed.

She used the social media platform after a Thornton Township meeting, which she also chairs as supervisor, was canceled due to a lack of quorum after trustees raised safety concerns about the meeting location. According to the Chicago Tribune, it is the second time in a row that the meeting has been canceled.

She also criticized “fake news” for the media's coverage of her time in office and criticized dissenting officials.

“Why is it like this with me and my life… You don't listen to my side? You all judge one side of the narrative that is out in the world, but never hear from me… I was always told… 'if you want to get the tea from me, you have to get it from the horse's mouth.

According to WGNTV, Henyard has promised but failed to deliver evidence of her opponents' past misdeeds through a podcast and a brief national media tour.

In her Facebook post, Henyard says those making allegations against her are doing so as a distraction.

“Why do we pay so much attention to Tiffany Henyard? What the fuck [are] They do this and don't want us to know about it while they [are] “That’s distracting us here,” she asks.

Meanwhile, Henyard's landlord tells Fox 32 Chicago that the mayor and her boyfriend Kamal Woods haven't paid their rent since August and wants them out.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, the two together collect well over $300,000 from taxpayers, citing public payroll records.

Her landlord, Genetta Hull, said she was forced to raise the rent by $200 to $2,400 a month because her property taxes went up again and Woods then told her he couldn't afford it, the outlet said .

Hull said Henyard and Woods refused to pay the additional rent in August, then stopped paying altogether and failed to provide rent checks for September and October.

According to Fox 32, Hull said she owes thousands of dollars while they also changed the locks and garage door code so she couldn't get in. The landlord filed an eviction notice against the couple, but Cook County sheriffs tried and failed to serve the notice on both the house and the community center.

Hull tells Fox 32 that she once considered Henyard a friend and did campaign work for her.

Henyard recently announced on Facebook that she will run for a second term as mayor of Dolton.

She was first elected mayor of Dolton, a south Chicago suburb, in 2021 after serving two terms as a trustee on the village board. She won the election in a landslide, receiving more than 80% of the vote.

Described by residents as “the worst mayor in America.” She received the nickname after her term in office was marked by controversy, including monetary mismanagement.

The announcement of her re-election came as she led a lawsuit against several village trustees, the Dolton Park district, the village clerk and the village manager.

The lawsuit stems from a previous controversial village board meeting in which Henyard claims he violated procedures.

Meanwhile, Lightfoot's investigation into the Village of Dolton's financial situation found in a preliminary report that Dolton's general fund balance was $5.61 million in 2022, but the balance fell to a deficit of $3.65 million by May 2024 US dollar had fallen.

Lightfoot also revealed that Henyard used the village credit card to make purchases at Amazon, Target, Walgreens, Wayfair and other retailers. A stunning statement revealed that the embattled mayor lost $33,000 on Amazon on January 5, 2023.
