Sounders face LAFC in the Western Conference semifinals

Stop me if you think you've heard this before: The Seattle Sounders will face LAFC in the Western Conference semifinals. LAFC secured its spot after defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 in the third game of their best-of-3 series on Friday.

This is the second straight season the Sounders will face LAFC in this playoff round, but this time at BMO Stadium. LAFC won the playoff meeting 1-0 last year. The game will take place on the weekend of November 23-24, but an exact time and date have not yet been determined.

This will also be the fifth time this year that the Sounders will play LAFC in four different competitions. LAFC has won all four previous meetings by a combined score of 9-1, although the Sounders hosted three of those games. The last time the Sounders beat LAFC was on May 16, 2021, a span of 10 games.
