Queens firefighter arrested for allegedly attacking ex-wife in front of child: sources

An FDNY firefighter was arrested in Queens over the weekend for allegedly choking his wife in front of their child, sources familiar with the incident said.

According to police, 47-year-old firefighter Joseph Johnson was arrested in a confined area 105th District on November 9th around 3:20 p.m.

Sources with direct knowledge of the investigation said Johnson allegedly had an argument with his 36-year-old ex-wife at their Rosedale home.

During the alleged altercation, Johnson allegedly placed his hands around the victim's neck, leaving marks and causing her pain. The attack occurred in front of her 8-year-old daughter, law enforcement sources said.

Johnson was charged with second-degree strangulation and an act harmful to a child under 17 years old.
