Alex Highsmith injured against Commander

Pittsburgh Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith appeared to suffer a serious ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh's Week 10 game against the Washington Commanders. Highsmith appeared to twist his ankle and was immediately in pain, went to the ground and needed help getting off the field.

Highsmith struggled with a groin injury earlier this season that caused him to miss three games, and that injury appears to be one that could cause him to miss some time. Things turned unnatural when he appeared to step on QB Jayden Daniels' foot, and he was clearly in pain as he was helped off the field.

Highsmith had an impressive performance coming off his groin injury, and if Highsmith misses time, the acquisition of OLB Preston Smith will be even more important. Additionally, OLB Nick Herbig should return soon from his hamstring injury, meaning the Steelers have at least some reinforcements at the position.

But Highsmith is a difficult player to replace, and his injury isn't good news for the Steelers, especially with the Baltimore Ravens heading into Week 11. Pittsburgh still has all six division games left, and they'll need to be as healthy as possible, so hopefully Highsmith won't miss much time, but the injury looked pretty serious.
