WNBA star goes viral with Caitlin Clark, statement from Steph Curry

Last year's NBA All-Star Weekend featured a very special three-point contest between Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry and New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu. While Curry won the contest, Ionescu outperformed all other competitors by shooting from the NBA three-point line.

The event was such a success that there was much discussion about bringing it back this year with a new twist.

On FanDuel's Run it Back show in April, ESPN's Shams Charania said: “At this point, it's very likely that Stephen Curry will face Sabrina Ionescu next year… I've been told that along with Caitlin Clark and possibly Klay Thompson should create a 2-on-2 match.”

Although there was no official announcement about it, Ionescu went viral when she was asked who she would choose as her partner.

“If I had to choose, I would add Caitlin Clark to my team,” Ionescu said.

Ionescu's statement exploded on social media, with this clip on X racking up over 465,000 views.

Clark just completed her rookie season for the Indiana Fever, breaking countless records en route to a near-unanimous vote for Rookie of the Year. The NCAA's all-time leading scorer finished her rookie season with unprecedented statistical averages.

Although Curry and Thompson are no longer teammates, it would be a special moment if the Splash Brothers teamed up again to compete against Clark and Ionescu.
