Police are searching for teens accused of robbing a Fairfax County gun store

Fairfax County police believe juveniles are responsible for a crime spree in which more than a dozen guns were stolen.

Some of the firearms have been recovered, others are still lying on the street.

Surveillance video shows shattered glass as a car rams into Dominion Defense in Springfield in mid-September.

According to police, the thieves, who were seen coming and going, got away with 14 firearms.

“This was a brazen crime tragically and sadly committed by teenagers,” said Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis.

Police recovered eight of the weapons and made three arrests in connection with the crime, but say the teens and others were preoccupied.

“These crimes were not just about weapons, but also about violent behavior,” said Maj. Elizabeth Melendez of the Fairfax County Police Department.

Investigators say a number of violent crimes throughout Fairfax County involved either the same suspects or associates known to the group.

Other crimes include robberies, a stolen car, a kidnapping and even several shootings. A total of seven suspects have now been arrested. All are minors except one, who is only 18 years old.

“The age of the individuals responsible for this crime and subsequent crimes is shocking,” said Chief Davis.

FOX 5 has previously reported on gun store break-ins involving juveniles.

There was one in May 2023 and last August. And in fact, authorities say the same gun store in Springfield was also unsuccessfully targeted in July.

“We certainly have a trend of juveniles specifically breaking into these firearms licensees, and it's happening not just here but across the country,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood.

Fairfax County Police are asking anyone with information about this latest case to call them. They say these suspects may also be responsible for other crimes.
