Sources: NYPD detective arrested in suspected domestic incident on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An NYPD detective was arrested while off-duty on Staten Island early Sunday morning.

Douglas MacEwen, 42, was arrested about 1:23 a.m. Sunday and charged with assault by police, according to a statement from the NYPD's deputy commissioner of public information.

According to a source familiar with the investigation, the arrest stemmed from a domestic dispute.
