Donald Trump appoints Elon Musk as “Minister of Cost Reduction”

Former President Donald Trump has hinted that Elon Musk could play a key role in his potential second administration as “secretary of cost-cutting.” In an interview with Maria Bartiromo, Trump praised Musk for his business acumen and ability to cut costs. He said the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is eager to take on the task of cutting government spending. However, Musk would not hold a formal cabinet position. “He doesn’t want to be in the cabinet. “He just wants to be responsible for cutting costs,” said Donald Trump. He added that Musk promised to reduce costs without affecting services. Trump also highlighted Musk's continued efforts in space exploration, claiming the billionaire is committed to sending a rocket to Mars before the end of the Trump administration. Most notable was Musk's track record of cost-cutting at X, formerly Twitter, where he laid off a significant portion of the workforce after purchasing the company in 2022. Trump expressed confidence in Musk's abilities, calling him a “great guy” and mentioning his support of Trump's campaign. Musk appeared at rallies in support of Trump, signaling a close relationship between the two.
