An injured man was flown to the hospital after a collision between two tractor-trailers on I-81

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) – At least one person was injured in a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 81 early Sunday morning.

According to Augusta County Fire-Rescue, the accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. Sunday near the 228 mile marker on northbound I-81. A driver was found trapped when ACFR units arrived with assistance from Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company and Verona Volunteer Fire Company. First responders freed the trapped driver from the trailer and they were flown to UVA Medical Center, ACFR said in a Facebook post.

According to VSP, one lane was opened on I-81 around 7:50 a.m. Sunday.
