Matariyeh made her first appearance before District Judge Jennifer Fischer. He appeared remotely from the Kandiyohi District Jail.

Matariyeh is also charged with first-degree assault on the Lake Lillian man and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.

Judge Fischer ordered Matariyeh given unconditional bail in the amount of $3.5 million and said that given the seriousness of the charges, no option for conditional release would be granted.

Jerome Skulzacek, 55, was previously identified as the man fatally shot outside Willmar on Tuesday as Matariyeh allegedly tried to steal another vehicle to further flee authorities who had been pursuing him in several counties.

Peter Mayerchak, 25, was shot to death early Tuesday at his rural Lake Lillian home. The sheriff's office said in an update released Wednesday that Mayerchak was in stable condition at the time and was expected to survive.

This is a developing story with updates to come.
