Dolphins' Tyreek Hill is “doing everything possible” to play against the Rams

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is doing “everything possible” to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday after missing practice on Friday with a wrist injury, coach Mike McDaniel said.

Hill's wrist injury “got hot,” McDaniel said Saturday, and the team wanted to give her a chance to “cool down.”

McDaniel added that he was neither optimistic nor pessimistic that Hill would play on Monday because the Dolphins have struggled day-to-day with the wide receiver.

“I’m just trying to get him to game day,” McDaniel said. “He is prepared and if his body allows it he will play, but we will see. … I’m optimistic he’ll do everything he can.” [in order to play].”

Hill leads all Dolphins players with 446 receiving yards this season, although statistically it is his worst start since moving to Miami in 2022. However, his production has increased since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned from a four-game absence; Hill has averaged 76 yards rushing in the Dolphins' last two games after averaging 35 yards in the four games prior.

If Hill is unable to play, Jaylen Waddle would step in as Miami's top receiver, with Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Malik Washington playing complementary roles. Veteran receiver River Cracraft could also return from injured reserve on Monday after missing the first eight games with a shoulder injury he suffered in the preseason.

While Hill's status remains uncertain, the Dolphins will be without starter Austin Jackson, who McDaniel said was dealing with a knee injury following their loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. It's unclear, McDaniel said, whether Jackson will require surgery, but his injury is not expected to end the season.

Veteran Kendall Lamm and rookie Patrick Paul are candidates to replace Jackson at right tackle.

The 2-6 Dolphins will look to end their three-game losing streak against a Rams team that has won their last three games. Miami is 2.5 games behind the Denver Broncos for seventh place in the AFC.
