Cotton and McConnell Press FTC and DOJ on Antitrust Leaks

First in the vault: A group of Republican lawmakers led by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called on inspectors general at the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department to investigate the government for “systematic” leaks to Bloomberg News.

In a letter As of Wednesday, the senators point to 12 cases since 2023 in which Bloomberg broke stories about antitrust regulators like the FTC and the Justice Department preparing to take legal action against key players.

“Those leaks “It appears to be just another example of this administration using the administrative state as a weapon against politically unfavorable opponents and critics,” the lawmakers wrote.
