Richard Allen was convicted of the Delphi murders

DELPHI, Ind. (WNDU) – Richard Allen has been found guilty on all four counts in the murders of two teenage girls in Delphi more than seven years ago.

After deliberating the case for four days, a jury found the 52-year-old guilty of aggravated murder and the knowing and intentional killing of 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German.

The two girls disappeared while hiking on February 13, 2017 near the Monon High Bridge Trail. Their bodies were discovered a day later in the forest near this trail.

Allen was arrested and charged with the murders back in October 2022.

Allen has been in court since October 18th. Prosecutors accused Allen of committing the murders, citing ballistics evidence and his own confessions. However, the defense argued that there was no DNA or weapon evidence linking Allen to the murders and that he only confessed because he was having a psychotic break.

According to our sister station WTHR, Allen is scheduled to be sentenced on December 20th. He faces up to 130 years in prison.

The gag order in this case remains in effect until Allen is sentenced.
