Thermo Fisher records 160 layoffs in Massachusetts amid virus vector overhaul

To streamline the production of viral vectors, Thermo Fisher is planning another round of layoffs this year – and is also shutting down a factory in Massachusetts. | Thermo Fisher is eliminating a total of 160 jobs at three different virus vector facilities in Cambridge, Lexington and Plainville, according to a government filing in Massachusetts. In parallel with the workforce cuts, Thermo Fisher also plans to close its Lexington plant.
