Complaint filed for man accused of shooting neighbor with crossbow

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – Pleas are being filed for an Eau Claire man accused of shooting a neighbor with a crossbow.

According to online court records, 36-year-old Robert Willi pleaded guilty to no contest counts of negligently endangering safety while using a dangerous weapon and one count of threatening a police officer.

All other charges and/or citations will be dismissed and read.

The court ordered a 60-month suspended sentence, online court records show.

On March 17, 2024, at around 12:25 p.m., Willi was arrested on suspicion of shooting his neighbor with a crossbow.

According to a news release, Eau Claire police responded to a report that a person was shooting their neighbor with a crossbow in the 500 block of Maple Street in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

After ensuring no one was injured and securing the area, officers attempted to contact Willi by telephone and through the open windows of his home. He didn't answer.

Willi eventually left his home and surrendered when ECPD's Tactical Response Team and Eau Claire County Regional SWAT arrived on the scene.
