Person arrested in connection with fatal scooter accident in New London – NBC Connecticut

One person has been arrested on involuntary manslaughter charges following a fatal scooter accident in New London last month.

Police said officers and firefighters responded to the entrance to Cedar Grove Cemetery shortly before 11 a.m. Oct. 9 after receiving a report of an accident with injuries.

They found a man in the street with life-threatening injuries.

The victim, later identified as 68-year-old Raymond Getty of New London, was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where his condition was initially listed as critical.

According to police, Getty died of his injuries two days later.

Investigators arrested 30-year-old Francha Francis of New London on multiple charges, including second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence.

Francis was arrested Nov. 3 and is being held on $100,000 bond.
