“McCarthy and Micah clear up viral comments after Cowboys' sixth loss.”

FRISCO, Texas – With the Dallas Cowboys falling to 3-6 this season and 0-4 at home with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, they'll have to deal with something other than the traditionally justified criticism from the 34-6 final score at AT&T Stadium have struggled – instead caught up in the fallout from Micah Parsons' comments.

When asked about head coach Mike McCarthy's future, Parsons responded.

“That’s above my pay grade when Mike practices again next year,” the All-Pro said.

Then he would redirect the emotions to the level of disappointment he feels for players like Zack Martin, a future Hall of Fame right defenseman who may or may not retire after this season ends and as such could leave the team game without ever making it to the Super Bowl.

“Other than coaching, Mike can go and go wherever he wants,” Parsons said. “People I kind of feel sorry for [are] Guys like Zack Martin and guys who may be in their final year or about to retire, because I wanted to hold the trophy for them. They want to win games and do great things with such legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.

“These are the guys I feel so much pity and sorrow for.”

The comments went viral almost immediately after they left Parsons' mouth, although the context and tone were clearly not intended to demean or disparage McCarthy, but rather to talk about the connection between players in the locker room.

Still, McCarthy and Parsons sat down on Monday to clarify things.

“Micah and I talked about it this morning and we handled these things the way men should handle them,” the Cowboys head coach said. “That wasn't his intention [to offend]but he can talk about that [later].”

And with that air cleared, McCarthy wants the Cowboys to focus on what matters most, and most importantly: trying to avoid a five-game losing streak and a 3-7 record.

“We have so much more to focus on and we've been talking about that all day today,” he said. “We need to stick with football, focus on the things we know we need to improve on and build on some of the things we haven't done. … These are some of the things that need to be eliminated.” Your culture and conversations bring a solution.

“I think this is an example of that.”

Next up is a battle with the Houston Texans in the Battle for Texas (also known as The Governor's Cup), another high-profile opponent taking the field in Arlington, where the Cowboys have yet to win a game this season.
