Isabella Co. man convicted of running over and killing his fiancee's ex – 9&10 News

An Isabella County man has been convicted of running over his fiancée's ex with his truck last year while the man was on a dirt bike, killing him.

Isabella County Prosecutor David Barberi said Allen Sprague was convicted by the jury on all five counts he faced: second-degree murder, reckless driving causing death, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, assault with intent to murder and aggravated Assault.

Barberi said Sprague tried to chase Dylon Andras, also of Lake, and another man who drove onto his property in the early morning hours of Oct. 25 last year.

He said the two men on their dirt bikes were just revving their engines when Sprague decided to give chase and hit Andras at speeds of more than 90 miles per hour on West Stevenson Lake Road near Brinton Road in Coldwater Township and kill him at the crime scene.

Barberi said Sprague then ran away but returned to the scene and tried to run over the other man.

This man was not injured.

He said Sprague and Andras were in an argument about breaking up.

“It appears to be a crime of jealousy and passion, and it is unfortunate that it costs him his life,” Barberi said.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 20, but Barberi said the date will likely be pushed back. Sprague faces life.

“This case is over a year old and I am happy for the family to finally have the opportunity to begin the healing process. And Dylon and his family were served a measure of justice. They will have the opportunity to comment on what they believe is an appropriate outcome and sentence,” Barberi said.

Barberi said the fiancée, who was in the truck at the time, is not expected to face charges.

Sprague had tried to convince the jury that the fiancée was driving, but Barberi said there was no evidence to confirm that and the jury was not convinced.
