Omaha man accused of defrauding users of “dark web” chat room with child pornography

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha man accused of running a “dark web” chat room is behind bars after police found child pornography on his website during an unrelated investigation into him found the phone.

Trevonte Toussaint, 21, was charged Thursday with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct.

Omaha police said they were investigating Toussaint in connection with firearms-related crimes when they discovered child sexual abuse material on his mobile device.

According to court documents, Toussaint told officers he was the administrator of a dark web chat room where he promoted child pornography and videos of people being killed.

According to court documents, Toussaint explained to investigators how he used the sexual abuse material to defraud people in the chat room. He would send another user a picture to prove he had child porn, the user would pay him for access to the rest of his files, and then Toussaint would accept the money and ban the user. According to investigators, Toussaint believes he defrauded people using this tactic at least 50 times.
