The Red Flag Alert returns today for the NYC area. The map shows the greatest fire danger.

NEW YORK – A Red flag warning will be in effect again on Tuesday for much of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, as gusty winds and the risk of wildfires are again forecast.

After reaching record-breaking temperatures in some locations on Monday, it will be difficult to reach the mid-50s and fall back to what is considered normal. Combined with gusty winds, this makes it feel even cooler. Be sure to dress warmly.

Unfortunately, the spread of the fire will be more of a problem on Tuesday as leaves and brush dry out quickly.

The red flag warning was issued for New York City, the Hudson Valley, Long Island, northeastern New Jersey and southwestern Connecticut from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service centers in New York and New Jersey issued a joint statement that said, in part: “Due to the combination of gusty winds and marginal relative humidity levels, these conditions could promote the rapid spread of fires that could ignite .” quickly become difficult to control.”
