Following the Spirit Airlines incident, a JetBlue plane was hit by gunfire over Haiti as violence escalated

A JetBlue flight returning from Port-au-Prince to New York's JFK Airport was found to have sustained bullet damage upon landing. This was the second US airline to be hit by gunfire over Haiti on the same day. The Airbus A320 involved in the incident, registration N623JB, was Flight 935. This incident highlights the increasing security challenges in the region as airlines face ongoing violence around Haiti's capital.

The incident coincides with a similar attack on a Spirit Airlines flight, also bound for Port-au-Prince, which was diverted to the Dominican Republic after multiple impacts. Following these incidents, the Haitian Civil Aviation Authority imposed a temporary suspension of all flights to and from Port-au-Prince until November 18 to ensure safer conditions as airlines assess the risks and adjust operations accordingly.

In response, JetBlue announced a suspension of its flights to Haiti until December 2, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew. The airline is actively cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident. As tensions escalate, airlines face a growing dilemma in balancing the continuity of their services with the unpredictable security situation in the region.
