Major police response at Ridgeview Elementary School on Tuesday after 'prank call'

COLORADO SPRINGS — A call for service prompted a large police presence at Ridgeview Elementary School, Colorado Springs police said.

The call came in around 11 a.m. Tuesday reporting that a man with a gun was making threats outside the school. The school was still on lockdown as of 11:50 a.m., but CSPD expects officers to clear the school campus soon.

Police believe it was a prank call because they have not received any reports of shots fired in the area and police have not found anyone at the scene who matches the person in the original description of the call.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
