The Bears fire their OC after a dismal final stretch

The Detroit Lions' offense played at about a C-minus level away from home in Houston. Still, Jared Goff and friends managed to score 26 points and a road win against a top-10 defense.

Things aren't going nearly as well in Chicago. The Bears have scored just two touchdowns in their last three games, all losses. Caleb Williams and the Bears' offense haven't found the end zone the last two weeks, and that's led to a change.

The Bears fired first-year offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday. No other changes were made immediately, but embattled head coach Matt Eberflus had hinted that more changes could come.

After evaluating our entire operation, I concluded that it was in the best interest of our team to take the direction of our offense in a different direction,” Eberflus said of the Bears. “This decision was well thought out, made consciously and respectfully. I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.”

Waldron took over at Chicago in 2034 after being the OC in Seattle for three seasons under Pete Carroll. Waldron previously worked with Jared Goff in Los Angeles as the Rams' passing game coordinator and QB coach.

Chicago ranks 24th in scoring and 30th in receiving yards, although the Bears have ranked last in both games since their bye week. The Bears rank in the bottom five in yards per game, sacks allowed, YAC on receptions and third-down conversion rate.
