Manager Philippe Clement is urging Rangers fans to continue to trust him, saying he is “200% confident” his team is on the right track.

The Ibrox side lost at Kilmarnock on Sunday and are six points behind leaders Celtic and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

Clement, whose team hosts Romanian FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday, led his team to the top of the table at the end of February.

However, five domestic defeats contributed to Celtic missing out on the Premiership title and the Scottish Cup, while four defeats this season dented their domestic and European ambitions.

“The fans will see us getting better,” Clement said. “I understand the people who are unhappy now, but I’m working even harder than before.”

Clement was the third appointment as Rangers manager in less than two years when he replaced Michael Beale a year ago and believes stability is “the only way”.

“Not just here, but in clubs all over Europe and the world,” the Belgian added. “If you change ideas every three months, six months or every year, there is no consistency. You need a process where everyone is moving in the same direction.”

“That is crucial. Otherwise there will always be ups and downs. If you stick to the agenda or one or two results, you can never achieve consistency.”

“Last season all the fans were behind the story. They were really happy. I didn't get caught up in the hype of that moment. I'm not excited about the drama either. There's a big space in between and we're there.” I believe so much in this club and its potential.
