Olivia Munn began randomly drug testing John Mulaney in the sixth month of her pregnancy

John Mulaney revealed that his now-wife Olivia Munn helped him recover from addiction by subjecting him to random drug tests – a habit they still practice.

The Saturday Night Live alum, 42, was first linked to the 44-year-old actress in May 2021 following his stint in rehab — and just months later, the two announced their pregnancy.

Although they weren't even officially dating at the time, Mulaney told GQ that Munn decided to take a more active role in his recovery.

According to the comedian, the “Predator” actress staged a mini-intervention and began randomly drug testing him when she was about six months pregnant.

“It was like watching a man in a tsunami,” Munn said of the post-rehab period. “I was watching someone newly sober on the edge of a cliff, and I didn’t know him well enough to help him.”

However, her efforts paid off and Mulaney has been sober ever since.

Munn is still testing her husband, whom she married in July, for drugs, which Mulaney says gives him a sense of “relief.”

“I like it when that question isn't even on her or anyone else's mind,” he told the outlet. “Peeing in this cup has something to do with me going this way. It gives me confidence.”

It worked out in the end, but Munn admitted she “barely knew” Mulaney when she found out she was pregnant with her first child.

“It wasn't anything close to 'dating,'” she told the outlet.

However, she said the comedian was thrilled by the news, noting that it was “the one thing that made him seem light and happy” despite going through such a difficult time.

The two originally planned to raise their children together on opposite coasts, with her living in Los Angeles while he lived in New York.

“It wasn't necessarily 'We're going to get married and live together' or anything like that, but 'I'm going to get involved in some way,'” Munn said of her original plan.

But as the months went by, the two grew closer and they eventually decided to raise their son Malcolm as a couple just two months before his arrival.

Mulaney and Munn welcomed their son in November 2021 — three months before Mulaney finalized his divorce from ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler, whom he married eight years earlier.

In September, they welcomed their second child – a daughter named Méi – via surrogate.
